4 Windmill Street is delighted to present I wished to say YES and NO at the same time by Mexican artist Christian Camacho Reynoso as part of The Alphabet Series. Rather than becoming a defining lexicon or induction of artists; The Alphabet Series aims to keep definition to a minimum; instead affording each artist the opportunity to present new objectives within their current work.
The body of work selected to be shown in 4 Windmill Street has been assembled as a first insight into a practice, which focuses on simultaneity, intermittency and shift knowing very well that one cannot really focus on simultaneity, intermittency and shift.

Work here deals with a certain suspension of states and forms. Familiar materials might look obscure: disguised as transparent, they behave like the opaque. In the field drawn, basic dynamics apply. Firstly, to look is to activate, and secondly, to read is not to relate to information, but to generate it. Please observe these rules.
Morelos was shot. Also: If the interior of something is identical to its exterior, then whatever we are talking about is transparent.
Among installation studies in graphite, pure pigment diagrams and paintings kept together by magnets, the energy distributed here is analogous to the one we suspect is mutely employed by thought in its essential, discreet and ultra precise economy: just enough to deliver to and come back calmly from the region where serious intentions are devised.

Christian Camacho Reynoso, 2013
Christian Camacho Reynoso (b. 1985, Mexico City) studied at the School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking of the National Institute of Fine Arts of Mexico, and at the Royal College of Art, London. He lives and works in Mexico City. Camacho has been recipient and participant of the National Fund for the Arts and Jumex Foundation & Collection Programs for Artistic Studies. His work has been shown internationally and is held in private collections in the UK, The United States and Mexico. Working into the academic field as a Jumex Foundation fellow, he has also taken part in and developed seminar programs at the Tamayo Museum of Contemporary Art and Museo Experimental El Eco, Mexico. Recent exhibitions include Alignment: from Beginning to the End, Backlit Gallery, Nottingham (2013), Winter is Coming, NETER, Mexico City (2013) and presages, FIFI projects, Mexico City (2013).
